Industry Update - Feb 20th

Memora Health Announces $40M Financing To Scale Platform for Simplifying Complex Care Delivery

  • Company: Memora Health has a vision to make care more actionable, accessible and always-on. According to co-founder Manav, the company focusses on three key areas - messaging, monitoring and management.
    • Messaging - For example, guide a patient through the entire plan
    • Monitor the patient along the way be it with device or device-less.
    • Properly integrate them in the current workflow so all the information can be appropriately managed.
  • The core problem company aims to solve is fragmented patient communication happening over multiple channels. For providers it creates a single unified view of all information collected from patients, for patients it keep them informed, explains plan, send reminders etc.

  • Founders and background: The company is started by 2 young co-founders. Kunaal Naik, handles the technical side of the company and acts as CTO. Manav Sevak has had some background in academic public health. Both founders might not have had a ton of industry experience but the product execution, adoption and company partnerships speaks highly of the vision and execution of the two so far. The San Francisco-based company spun out of the Harvard Innovation Labs and went through the famed startup accelerator Y Combinator in 2018, emerging as a text-based virtual assistant to help care teams manage patient discharges and follow-ups
  • The science: There is no science component here, only tech is used to solve the problem.
  • The technology: Memora supports healthcare organizations in extending care beyond the four walls of the clinic by digitizing and automating complex care workflows. The company’s platform integrates seamlessly into EHRs, CRMs, and existing clinical and administrative workflows – training artificial intelligence technology on the massive amount of clinical data that is generated in the course of routine care in various clinical settings. Memora’s platform supercharges care teams by intelligently triaging patient-reported concerns and data to appropriate care team members and providing patients with proactive, anticipatory communication on their care journeys.
  • Value generated:

  • Future plans - This $40 million to scale its complex care delivery platform, which digitizes clinical and administrative workflows with its data-driven artificial intelligence technology.
  • Customer segment - NA. Currently the users of their platform seem to come from across the spectrum. The company works with more than 50 healthcare systems across the spectrum including large academic centers, federally qualified health centers,  IPAs, large community systems etc.
  • Who pays? - The care providers
